Dr. Samuel Hahnemann was the founder of Homeopathy.
He was an allopathic doctor and the first man who felt that allopathic medicines have the harmful side effects and was not suitable for his patients. He was so much clear and confident in his perception that he gave up allopathic practice and adopted profession of translating different books in German language.
During translation of Dr. Cullen's Materia medica he found Cinchona (China) medicine as remedy for malaria due to its bitter taste. He thought that if a medicine can cure a disease by virtue of its taste or some other medicinal properties then what would be if the same medicine is used by a healthy person.
Then he did an experiment on himself, took cinchona daily and observed some changes in himself which was shivering, fever, drowsiness, thirst and redness of the face. He stopped eating and gradually all the symptoms disappeared.
He frequently did the same experiment on his family and friends and found the same phenomena.
He concluded that '' drug having medicinal properties can cure the disease symptom if it has the ability to produce the same symptoms. ''
This is known as " Similia Similibus Curentur” that means, “like cures like.”
